Former England, Martin Keown has lavish praise for Achraf Hakimi after Paris Saint-Germain’s win over Arsenal.
The French champions secured a 2-1 win on Wednesday night in the return leg of the semifinal clash at the Parc des Princes.
Fabian Ruiz broke the deadlock for the home side before Achraf Hakimi finished superbly from the edge of the box with a little under 20 minutes left on the clock.
However, Bukayo Saka set up the prospect of a late fightback when he scored Arsenal’s first of the tie to make it 3-1 on aggregate four minutes later, following great work by substitute Leandro Trossard down the left.
“You have to take your hat off to Paris Saint-Germain. Hakimi, what a player,” Keown, a legend of Arsenal, told TNT Sports after the game.
“Arsenal can be proud of what they’ve done this season. It’s only our second season back in the Champions League. But the fact that we didn’t have a clear striker hurt us in the end, as two strikers were absent from tonight’s game.
“Paris Saint-Germain doesn’t have Neymar, Messi, or Mbappé. They’ve all left, but the team now looks complete. I’ve never seen the attacking players work this hard.
“How can you beat them? They’re super favourites to win the title now. You have to give them the credit they deserve,” he added.
Meanwhile, PSG will clash with Inter Milan in the final of the Champions League on May 31 ,
