Ceramica Cleopatra stormed into the quarter-finals of the Egypt Capital Cup with a commanding 4-1 win over Zed FC at the Arab Contractors Stadium.
The defending champions wasted no time asserting control, as Mohamed Reda “Bobo” netted the opener just four minutes in. Mahmoud Abdelhafiz “Zlaka” doubled the lead in the 15th minute, before Ibrahim Mohamed added a third in the 22nd.
Zed FC’s troubles deepened when Moroccan defender Ahmed Belhaj accidentally turned the ball into his own net early in the second half. Ceramica were reduced to ten men after Ahmed Hany saw red in the 56th minute, while Zed’s Rashid Ahmed also received his marching orders in the 78th.
Belhaj made up for his earlier mistake by scoring for Zed in the 84th minute, but it was only a consolation. Ceramica’s players celebrated by lifting the shirt of injured teammate Ahmed Kandoussi in a show of solidarity.
With the win, Ceramica ended Group B with seven points, finishing second behind Al Ahly Bank.
Elsewhere, Ghazl El Mahalla and Al Masry drew 0-0 at the New Suez Stadium.
