The Central African Republic’s U17 team has accused Cameroon of fielding overage players following a crushing 9-0 defeat in the opening match of the UNIFFAC Under-17 tournament.
In a one-sided encounter, Cameroon dominated from the outset, leaving the Central African side struggling to compete.
The heavy loss has led Central African coach Dertin Boulengue to question the legitimacy of his opponents’ squad.
There is no equality of strength. You saw, we can’t do anything because they weren’t the U17 children,” Boulengue said after the match.
We couldn’t do anything. And to avoid damage, we were forced to all play in our camp to avoid disaster.
The defeat sparked frustration within the Central African camp, with concerns over potential age discrepancies among Cameroon’s players.
Despite the accusations, no official complaint has been lodged with tournament organizers.
Despite the demoralizing result, Boulengue remains focused on the remaining fixtures, urging his team to move forward.
We have to get back up because it’s true that today we fell, and we have two games left,” he added.
The Central African Republic will look to recover in their upcoming matches, while Cameroon, after a dominant start, shifts its focus to maintaining momentum in the competition.
