Following Cameroon’s defeat in the semi-final of the 2013 CEMAC Cup, Cameroonian player agent Soleil Nyassa expressed his celebration on Facebook. Nyassa, who is also the general manager of Canon de Yaoundé, posted:
“Cameroon eliminated, the Central Africans qualified. Wow Iya is no longer the laughter one.”
This statement seems to imply that Nyassa finds joy in Cameroon’s elimination and the qualification of the Central Africans. The reference to “Iya” likely alludes to Iya Mohammed, the former president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, who is now in prison.
Cameroon lost in penalties (8-9) after a 2-2 draw in regular time. In the final, the Central African Republic is set to face Gabon, who secured a 1-0 victory against Congo.
