Ilaix Moriba is expected to remain at Celta Vigo this season after the Spanish club rejected further approaches for the Guinea international, including a recent proposal from Besiktas.
The Turkish club expressed interest in the midfielder in recent hours, but Celta Vigo quickly ruled out the possibility of a deal. The decision reflects the Galician side’s determination to keep Moriba, despite interest from several clubs across Europe.
According to information from Matteo Moretto, Moriba will not leave Celta Vigo during the current transfer window. The club had already turned down a number of offers for the 23-year-old before Besiktas became the latest side to make an approach.
Ajax Amsterdam previously submitted a paid loan proposal that included an option to buy 50% of the player’s rights. However, the offer did not persuade Celta Vigo’s directors to sanction his departure.
Bayer Leverkusen also explored a loan deal, but their proposal included an obligation to buy and was rejected by the Spanish club. Neither approach altered Celta Vigo’s position that Moriba remains an important member of their squad.
The midfielder is under contract at the club until 30 June 2029, giving Celta Vigo a strong negotiating position. His estimated market value is €15m, while his reported annual salary in Spain is €1.62m, equivalent to 1,053,000,000 CFA francs.
Celta Vigo’s stance suggests Moriba is firmly part of the club’s plans for the season ahead. Rather than considering offers from interested clubs, the club intends to rely on the former Barcelona player as part of its midfield options.
Moriba developed through Barcelona’s academy before moving into senior football and has represented Guinea at international level. His continued presence gives Celta Vigo an experienced option in the centre of the pitch as they prepare for their next La Liga fixture.
The club will soon face Getafe in the fourth round of the Spanish championship. The match will provide another opportunity for Celta Vigo to use Moriba as they continue their campaign.
Listed odds for the fixture give Celta Vigo a price of 3.40 to win, with the draw at 2.85 and a Getafe victory at 2.30.
