Castello Lukeba is on the verge of making his long-awaited return to action for RB Leipzig.
The 22-year-old central defender has been sidelined for nearly two months due to a thigh muscle injury, but head coach Marco Rose revealed on Tuesday that Lukeba’s rehabilitation is nearly complete, with a final stress test set to determine his full recovery.
Speaking ahead of the Champions League clash with Sporting, Rose confirmed that Lukeba has resumed training with the team. “We saw Castello in training for the first time today,” the coach stated. Although Lukeba won’t feature in the match just yet, he is close to regaining full fitness. “He has his final test tomorrow and will then be fully resilient again. We are of course happy about that,” Rose added.
The promising defender can now look forward to a return to competitive play, with hopes high for his inclusion in upcoming fixtures once he passes the final hurdle.
Lukeba has made nine appearances in the Bundesliga this season.
