The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has brought an end to the legal dispute between a group of players from Pyramids FC’s 2009-born youth team and the club, ruling in favour of Pyramids FC.
In its final decision, the Switzerland-based court dismissed the appeal filed by the players against an earlier ruling by the Egyptian Football Association’s Players’ Affairs Committee, which had upheld the club’s position.
CAS confirmed the validity of Pyramids FC’s legal stance, stating that the players and their parents had breached applicable regulations, particularly those governing the Egyptian Football Association. The ruling underlined the importance of respecting football regulations and adhering strictly to established transfer rules.
The Players’ Affairs Committee had previously rejected the players’ complaint on the grounds that it lacked legal merit, a decision that led the players to escalate the matter to CAS.
The players had argued that Pyramids FC failed to meet its contractual obligations and that they were therefore entitled to move to other clubs without the club’s consent.
Pyramids FC, however, maintained that its approval was mandatory for any transfer and that none of the regulatory conditions allowing contract termination had been met.
CAS sided with the club, aligning its ruling with the Egyptian Football Association’s earlier decision and conclusively affirming Pyramids FC’s rights over the players.
The verdict brings the case to a definitive close, ending all avenues of appeal and reinforcing the authority of football governing bodies and their regulations in resolving contractual disputes within the sport.
