The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dealt a fresh blow to Zamalek Football Club concerning the fine imposed on Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim Kahraba, a player for Al Ahly, amounting to $2 million, plus 5% interest, by FIFA in favor of Zamalek, due to the unilateral termination of his contract in 2019.
CAS announced that hearings for sports arbitration would continue until May 15, 2024.
However, Kahraba’s case with Zamalek has not yet been scheduled for a hearing, despite previous speculations suggesting otherwise.
This delay represents a significant setback for the White Knights.
The International Court’s decision regarding Kahraba’s case with Zamalek, and the lack of a scheduled hearing date, can be attributed to the player’s appeal against FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee’s decision.
This appeal grants him additional time to navigate through the legal proceedings.
Previously, in June 2019, the Court of Arbitration for Sport had suspended Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim Kahraba for six months and ordered him to pay a fine of $2 million to Zamalek, with a 5% interest rate.
In a related context, the Court of Arbitration for Sport has set February 26, 2024, as the date for a hearing for Ismaily SC’s appeal against FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber’s decision regarding Palestinian player Khaled Al-Nabrisi.
Additionally, a hearing for Enppi’s appeal against the decision concerning Ivorian player Jean Moryl has been scheduled for February 13, 2024.
