Borussia Dortmund’s latest recruit, Carney Chukwuemeka, is still processing the whirlwind move that brought him to the Signal Iduna Park on deadline day.
The Chelsea midfielder has joined the Black and Yellow on loan until the end of the season, with Dortmund holding a €35 million option to make the deal permanent.
The 20-year-old, who is eligible to represent Austria, England, and Nigeria at the international level, has already made his mark in England’s youth setup. After featuring twice for the England U17 team, he debuted for the U18 squad in a 2–0 win over Wales on March 29, 2021.
Speaking to BVB-TV about his switch, Chukwuemeka described the moment as almost unreal.
“A little surreal. I’m sucking everything straight. A huge club. In the Champions League final last season. I was allowed to see that. Some of my friends were on the pitch,” he shared.
“It is a surreal feeling to sit here now. Can’t wait to start,” added Chukwuemeka, eager to make his mark in Dortmund’s iconic black and yellow.
