Chiquinho has completed a permanent transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Portuguese side FC Alverca, drawing a close to a turbulent yet promising chapter in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old winger, who joined Wolves from Estoril in January 2022, returns to his homeland after two years that saw him showcase flashes of potential before injury setbacks hampered his progress.
The move to Alverca offers a fresh start for the Cascais-born player at a club with growing ambitions in Portuguese football.
Chiquinho made his debut for Wolves on his 22nd birthday against Norwich City, and quickly followed that with a Premier League appearance against Arsenal.
Under the guidance of then-manager Bruno Lage, he featured nine times in the second half of the 2021–22 campaign, registering three assists.
One of his standout moments came with a decisive cross that helped Conor Coady rescue a point against Chelsea in May 2022.
However, hopes of a breakthrough season were dashed after the winger suffered a serious knee injury during Wolves’ summer training camp, ruling him out for the entire 2022–23 season.
The setback significantly slowed his momentum and limited his chances to secure a regular place in the first team.
Last season, Chiquinho was sent out on multiple loan spells in a bid to regain match fitness and game rhythm.
He featured for Stoke City and later returned to Portugal with Famalicão before finishing the 2023–24 season in Spain with La Liga side Mallorca.

His final appearance for Wolverhampton came in the Carabao Cup, where he featured in a win over Burnley, having also made a substitute appearance on the opening weekend of the Premier League campaign against Arsenal.
Now back in Portugal, Chiquinho has signed with FC Alverca, a club aiming to rise within the Portuguese league system.
Although details of the contract remain undisclosed, the move is viewed as a chance for the winger to revive his career in a familiar environment, far from the injury misfortunes that marked his time in England.
Wolverhampton Wanderers extended their well-wishes to Chiquinho following the announcement, thanking him for his contributions and wishing him success in the next phase of his career.
