Cape Town City has officially named Muhsin Ertugral as their new Technical Director after the departure of former head coach Eric Tinkler.
The club shared the announcement on their social media platforms, stating:
“Cape Town City is thrilled to confirm the appointment of Muhsin Ertugral as the club’s new Technical Director.
“Muhsin brings extensive local and international football expertise to our ongoing project. Most recently, he served as the Technical Advisor for the Turkish national team over the last four years.
“In addition to his new role, Muhsin will assume the position of interim head coach until the current season concludes, working alongside first-team coaches Diogo Peral and Lebogang Manyama.”
Ertugral began his playing career with Antalyaspor before moving abroad, where he continued playing in Belgium and Germany. During this time, he also developed his coaching skills.
His coaching career has seen him take on various prominent roles, including managing the DR Congo national team and leading Kaizer Chiefs starting in 1999. In 2007, he guided Ajax Cape Town to victory in the ABSA Cup with a 2-0 win over league champions Mamelodi Sundowns. That season, Ajax also secured a fourth-place league finish and stood out as the only team to remain unbeaten against Sundowns.
Ertugral later resigned from Kaizer Chiefs in May 2009 to rejoin Ajax Cape Town. Later that year, following the resignation of Bulent Uygun, he signed a contract with Sivasspor in the Turkish Super League, which was set to run until June 2011.
