The U17 national football teams of Senegal (Lion Cubs) and Côte d’Ivoire (Eléphanteaux) are set to face each other on November 17 in a match that is part of the first phase of the final round of the CAN U17 qualifiers. In preparation for this important encounter, the Senegalese team will play a friendly match against the Moroccan U17 team on November 11.
The information was shared by coach Dominique Coly, who mentioned that a single friendly match against Morocco is scheduled, pending confirmation. A group of 20 local players has been in training since Wednesday to prepare for these upcoming fixtures.
While there may be a desire for revenge among fans, particularly referencing recent matches at the senior level, Coach Coly urged caution, stating, “Don’t let anyone talk to us about revenge. It’s not the same category, nor the same players, nor the same issue. So don’t talk to us about revenge. I don’t like this word. It puts electricity in the air and pressure when we don’t need it.” The coach emphasized focusing on the upcoming challenges and not letting external pressures affect the team’s performance.
