Cote d’Ivoire maintained their perfect start to the CAN 2027 qualifying campaign with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Somalia on Tuesday in the second round of Group C fixtures.
The Elephants were held at bay for most of the match and appeared set to face a frustrating wait before finally breaking the deadlock in the 89th minute. Yann Gboho found the decisive opening late in the contest to put Cote d’Ivoire ahead.
Somalia were unable to respond, and Cote d’Ivoire added a second goal in the final moments when Bazoumana Toure completed the victory.
The result extends the Elephants’ winning run and keeps them at the top of Group C. They followed up their success against Ghana in the opening round with a second consecutive win, giving them six points from their first two matches.
Cote d’Ivoire are level on points with The Gambia, who also have six points.
