Burkina Faso Announces Squad Amid Political Crisis for Final CAN 2015 Qualifiers
Despite the deep political crisis following President Blaise Compaoré’s resignation after a mass uprising, Burkina Faso’s national team remains focused on football. Coach Paul Put has named a 23-man squad for the final 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Lesotho (Nov 15) and Angola (Nov 19).
While Alain Traoré remains sidelined through injury, his brother Bertrand Traoré is included. Most of the core squad returns, including Jonathan Pitroipa, Charles Kaboré, Bakary Koné, and Aristide Bancé.
Burkina Faso currently sits second in Group C behind Gabon and is still in strong contention for a spot at the finals in Equatorial Guinea.
