Congo advance to second round of 2015 AFCON qualifiers with impressive home win

Congo have booked their place in the second round of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers after a stunning comeback against Namibia. The Red Devils overcame a 1-0 deficit from the first leg to secure a commanding 3-0 victory at home on Sunday, keeping their hopes alive of reaching the group stage.

Under the guidance of coach Claude Leroy, Congo displayed resilience and determination to overturn the aggregate scoreline. Their next challenge will be against Rwanda, who have also progressed to the next phase.

Meanwhile, Benin confirmed their progression by defeating Sao Tome and Principe 2-0 in their second-leg encounter. This mirrored their 2-0 win in the first leg, with midfielder Stéphane Sessegnon continuing his fine form by scoring his third goal across the two matches.

Earlier in the day, Botswana, Tanzania, and Lesotho also secured their spots in the second round of AFCON qualifying, highlighting the competitive nature of the preliminary rounds.

The second round will see these teams face tougher competition as they strive to qualify for the prestigious tournament scheduled for 2015.
