Mauritania Defeats Mauritius 1-0 in CAN 2015 Qualifiers
Mauritania secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Mauritius in the first leg of their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday in Nouakchott. The only goal of the match came in the 23rd minute from Adama Ba, who curled in a free kick to give the Mourabitounes the advantage.
Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, Mauritania couldn’t extend their lead. Ba, who plays for Bastia, was lively throughout the match but missed several opportunities to further seal the win.
Mauritania played without their captain, Dominique Da Silva, who was unavailable due to administrative issues. The return leg will take place on April 20 at the Stade George V in Curepipe, where Mauritania will look to secure their qualification for Morocco 2015.
