According to several Moroccan media sources, the FRMF (Royal Moroccan Football Federation) has reportedly submitted a request to the CAF (Confederation of African Football) to participate in the qualifiers for the CAN 2015. This request comes despite the fact that Morocco is automatically qualified for the tournament as the host nation.
The objective behind this request is to provide the Atlas Lions with the opportunity to participate in international matches during the qualification phase, as stated by Lionsdelatlas. This approach is reminiscent of the situation for Euro 2016, where the host nation, France, still competed in the qualifiers.
The outcome of Morocco’s request now rests on the decision of the CAF.
