Guinea’s Captain Kamil Zayatte Sees Divine Justice in Quarter-Final Qualification
Guinea’s captain, Kamil Zayatte, expressed relief and gratitude after his team qualified for the 2015 African Cup of Nations quarter-finals following a CAF draw that eliminated Mali.
“We didn’t believe anymore; we were just waiting for someone to tell us, ‘Go home.’ But today, we saw that God is on our side, He hasn’t abandoned us. He saw that we have suffered too much,” Zayatte told the BBC.
He also reflected on the team’s struggles during the qualifiers, affected by rejection due to the Ebola outbreak. “Everywhere we went, we were rejected, but God has not rejected us today,” he said, pledging that the Syli National will continue their fight to reach the final and win the trophy.
