The Togolese government is taking steps to ensure a successful participation of the Togo national football team, the Sparrowhawks (Eperviers), in the upcoming African Cup of Nations (CAN) scheduled in South Africa. The government, through the Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Me Yacoubou Hamadou, has announced the creation of three committees to oversee the organization and fundraising for the Sparrowhawks at the CAN.
- Organizing Committee: This committee will be chaired by the Prime Minister, with the chief of staff of the Minister of Sports and Recreation serving as vice-president.
- Supervisory Committee: This committee will be responsible for supervising both the organizing and fundraising committees. It will be chaired by the Prime Minister and will include a representative from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
- Fund Mobilization Committee: This committee will focus on fundraising efforts for the national team and is expected to be led by a representative of the Presidency of the Republic.
Togo is placed in Group D alongside Ivory Coast, Tunisia, and Algeria for the African Cup of Nations.
