The Togo national football team, known as the Sparrowhawks, suffered a 3-1 defeat against Niger in a recent friendly match in Niamey. Following the defeat, Serge Akakpo, the vice-captain of the team, expressed concerns on his Facebook page, stating that the Sparrowhawks are not yet ready to compete at their best. Despite earlier victories against Morocco and Oman, doubts linger, and the anticipated return of Emmanuel Adebayor to the team is awaited. The Sparrowhawks are scheduled to face strong contenders, Côte d’Ivoire, on January 22, during the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).
