Nigerian striker Kalu Uche has decided to withdraw from the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (CAN) due to adductor pain. The Rizespor striker in Turkey made the decision on his own, taking into consideration his ongoing discomfort and the upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifiers. His withdrawal was confirmed by his lawyer, Chike Onyeacho, who mentioned that Uche could have hidden the injury but chose to prioritize his health and long-term prospects. The final 23-man squad for Nigeria will be announced before the January 9 deadline for submitting the list.
