Abdelhak Etchiali, the young assistant referee designated for the 29th edition of CAN 2013 in South Africa, will not be able to participate due to a nasty ankle injury. The 33-year-old native of Tlemcen has had a busy season, participating in all competitions organized by CAF and FIFA. Despite suffering before the Club World Cup in December, Etchiali was able to participate in the competition, thanks to interventions by doctors from the FIFA medical commission. However, he experienced a relapse on his return to Algeria. Efforts are being made to help him recover before the Football World Cup scheduled for Brazil in 2014.
