Cameroon’s home-based national team end Yaoundé training camp with win and draw

Cameroon’s home-based national team concluded their training camp in Yaoundé with mixed results in two friendly evaluation matches under the guidance of head coach David Pagou.

The camp, which began on 6 March 2026, brought together 30 locally based players as part of preparations aimed at assessing talent and building cohesion within the squad. To wrap up the gathering, the team played two test matches against clubs from the Cameroonian top flight.

In the first friendly encounter, Pagou’s side faced AS Fortuna. The match proved to be a tightly contested affair, with both sides creating a few chances but ultimately failing to find the back of the net. After 90 minutes of action, the teams settled for a goalless 0–0 draw, leaving the technical staff with valuable insights into the squad’s defensive organization and overall balance.

The local Indomitable Lions returned to action in their second evaluation match against another elite club, Canon Sportif, at the military stadium in Yaoundé. This time, the encounter produced a decisive result.

Pagou’s men edged the contest 1–0, thanks to a solitary goal from Konrad Nfanseu. The strike proved enough to secure victory and provide a positive ending to the week-long training camp.

The two matches served as an important opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate players’ performances, fitness levels, and tactical understanding ahead of future assignments involving locally based players.

For Pagou and his technical team, the camp represented a crucial step in identifying potential talents who could strengthen Cameroon’s home-based national team in upcoming competitions.

With the friendly matches completed, the training camp officially came to an end on 10 March 2026, bringing to a close several days of intense preparation and assessment for the group of 30 players.

The players will now return to their respective clubs, while the coaching staff analyzes the performances from the camp as they continue to build a competitive squad capable of representing Cameroon with pride in future engagements.
