Cameroonian teenager Christian Kofane scores first UEFA Champions League goal in Leverkusen’s draw with PSV
Cameroonian teenager Christian Kofane netted his debut goal in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, salvaging a point for Bayer Leverkusen in the team’s 1-1 draw against PSV.
In a close contest played at BayArena, the talented forward started the game for the German outfit and led the lines with a top performance.
Kofane’s big moment arrived in the 65th minute when he capitalised on a defensive blunder from the visitors. Showing composure, he calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net from close range to put Leverkusen in front.
PSV, however, responded swiftly. Just seven minutes later, Ismael Saibari found space inside the box and latched onto a pass from Guus Til before finishing clinically into the right corner to level the score at 1-1.
Despite late pressure from both sides, neither team could find a winner, leaving Leverkusen and PSV to share the spoils on matchday two of the Champions League group stage.
Christian Kofane’s top performance on the night showed his continued meteoric rise and gives him the confidence to keep going.
