Vincent Aboubakar is once again on Kocaelispor’s radar after parting ways with Hatayspor, leaving the Cameroonian striker available on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old forward, who has been linked in recent weeks with a move to Sariyer SK, also drew strong interest from Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.
However, both clubs now face competition from newly promoted Süper Lig side Kocaelispor, who have reignited their pursuit of the experienced striker.
According to Africafoot, Kocaelispor had already attempted to secure Aboubakar’s signature during the previous winter transfer window but were unable to finalise a deal.
The Turkish side has now reopened discussions in a bid to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the upcoming season.
While the club is eager to bring the Cameroonian international on board, talks have reportedly stalled over salary expectations, which remain a key hurdle in reaching an agreement.
Aboubakar, widely recognised as one of Cameroon’s most accomplished forwards, is coming off a solid campaign in which he scored seven goals and registered two assists across 25 Süper Lig appearances for Hatayspor.
Despite his departure from the club, his market value is currently estimated at €1.2 million, according to Transfermarkt.
A move to Kocaelispor could offer the Indomitable Lion a fresh start as he looks to reignite his career in Turkey’s top flight.
The club, which recently secured promotion, sees the veteran striker as a valuable addition who can provide both experience and a cutting edge in front of goal.
Aboubakar’s career has seen him feature prominently at both club and international levels. He has been a key figure for Cameroon over the years, celebrated for his clinical finishing, leadership on the pitch, and crucial goals in major competitions.
While negotiations remain ongoing, his future is expected to be a topic of keen interest in the coming weeks, with Kocaelispor pushing hard to secure his services.
The coming days could prove decisive in determining whether the Cameroonian forward will spearhead their attack in the Süper Lig.
For now, Aboubakar remains a free agent, carefully weighing his options as multiple clubs continue to circle for his signature.
