Cameroonian midfielder Zambo Anguissa tipped for Premier League return amid Manchester interest

Frank Zambo Anguissa is being lined up for a potential return to the Premier League, with both Manchester City and Manchester United having reportedly been approached regarding the Cameroonian international’s availability ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Napoli midfielder has been offered to a trio of English clubs: City, United and Chelsea, according to sources close to the player’s entourage.

While Anguissa remains under contract in Naples, discussions behind the scenes are said to have taken place during Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna’s recent visit to England, which included stops in both London and Manchester.

That trip was reportedly used to gauge interest from Premier League sides, with Anguissa’s representatives believed to be exploring the possibility of a move back to England.

Now 28, Anguissa is no stranger to the Premier League. He previously played for Fulham, where he developed a strong rapport with fans and adapted well to the pace and physicality of English football.

His positive experience in England and personal ties to the country are thought to be key factors behind a potential move. Both the player and his family are said to be open to a return, viewing it as a natural next step in his career.

Despite a productive spell at Napoli where he has cemented himself as a reliable and combative presence in midfield, Anguissa is believed to be seeking a new challenge.

While clubs from France and Saudi Arabia have also shown interest, sources indicate his preference remains with securing a move to a top-tier European club, particularly one competing in the Champions League.

Monaco and Marseille were among the first sides to inquire about his availability earlier this year, but Anguissa appears to be prioritising a return to the English top flight,

where competition at the highest level remains his primary motivation.

His strong performances in Serie A, especially during Napoli’s recent campaigns, have kept him in the spotlight, and interest from Premier League giants is hardly surprising.

Manchester United in particular are reported to be considering options to bolster their midfield ranks following an inconsistent season, while Manchester City are constantly looking to strengthen their depth across all positions.

Chelsea’s name has also surfaced, though it is believed that any formal approach will depend on the club’s outgoing transfers and their summer rebuilding strategy.

As of now, the interest from the Manchester clubs appears to be the most active.

Anguissa’s desire to return to the Premier League aligns with his ambitions to remain in top-level competition, and with his reputation as a hard-working, technically gifted midfielder, he could provide valuable depth and experience to any of the clubs currently assessing him.

With the transfer window approaching, Zambo Anguissa’s situation will likely draw further attention. If a deal is agreed, it would mark a significant move for the Cameroonian international, one that could reignite his Premier League journey at a higher level than before.
