Cameroonian midfielder Yvan Neyou has emerged as a transfer target for FC Getafe as his contract with CD Leganés nears its expiration.
Neyou, who joined Leganés in the summer of 2023, has quickly established himself as a key figure in the squad. Over the course of the 2023–24 La Liga season, the 27-year-old featured in 30 of the club’s 38 league fixtures, registering one goal and one assist. He started in over 70% of those appearances, underlining his growing importance to the team’s tactical setup.
His consistent performances have not gone unnoticed. According to information shared by Spanish journalist Inés Fernández via social media, Getafe are keen to secure Neyou’s services for the upcoming season.
The La Liga side is reportedly preparing an approach as they look to strengthen their midfield options during the summer transfer window.
Neyou’s future has been the subject of speculation for several months. With his current deal at Leganés set to expire within weeks, the player’s next move is expected to be decisive in shaping the next chapter of his career.
His market value is currently estimated at €2.5 million, according to Transfermarkt.
Although Getafe now appear to be leading the chase, they are not the only club to have shown interest. Valencia CF were previously linked with the Douala-born midfielder, attracted by his combination of physicality and technical skill. However, it is understood that the Valencian club has since cooled its pursuit, opting to explore other options in the market.
At Leganés, Neyou has earned praise for his disciplined defensive play, precise passing, and ability to control the tempo in midfield. His reliability and work rate have made him a fan favourite and a trusted figure among the coaching staff.
As the team navigated a demanding campaign in Spain’s second tier, Neyou’s presence often brought balance and stability to the side.
Despite being predominantly known for his defensive contributions, Neyou has occasionally pushed forward, providing moments of creativity that have proved valuable in tight matches.
His lone goal this season came in a hard-fought encounter, showcasing not just his skill but also his willingness to take responsibility in crucial moments.
The Cameroonian international began his professional journey in France and previously featured for clubs such as Saint-Étienne, where he played in Ligue 1. His transition to Spanish football has been smooth, with his debut season at Leganés marking an important step in his development and visibility on the European stage.
As the transfer window approaches, discussions over Neyou’s next destination are expected to intensify. Whether he chooses to remain in Spain with a top-flight club like Getafe or explores opportunities elsewhere, the midfielder’s performances this past season have made it clear he has the quality to compete at a higher level.
Negotiations between the involved parties have not yet been officially confirmed, but with Neyou’s contract nearing its end, a resolution is likely in the coming weeks
