Cameroonian midfielder William Tsiy Ndenge set for summer exit amid interest from Germany and Belgium

William Tsiy Ndenge is poised for a summer departure from Grasshoppers Zurich as interest mounts from clubs in Germany and Belgium ahead of the final months of his contract.

The 27-year-old Cameroonian international, who also serves as vice-captain of the Swiss club, has yet to commit to a contract extension despite offers on the table.

Grasshoppers remain keen to keep their influential midfielder for at least another season but are increasingly aware that their efforts may prove unsuccessful.

Ndenge, whose current market value stands at €1.5 million according to Transfermarkt, appears to be weighing his options, with suitors from across Europe showing increasing interest.

Among the most persistent is FC Cologne, a club with strong emotional ties for the player. Born in the German city, Ndenge is reported to be intrigued by the possibility of returning home — a factor that could play a decisive role in any move.

Cologne, currently pushing for a return to the Bundesliga, view Ndenge as a valuable asset in their rebuilding plans. Should their promotion bid succeed, the German club is expected to step up efforts to bring the midfielder back to his hometown.

While Cologne holds a sentimental advantage, Belgian clubs are also closely monitoring the situation. Several sides in the Jupiler Pro League are believed to be considering Ndenge as a potential midfield reinforcement for the upcoming season.

His experience in Switzerland, as well as previous spells with Borussia Mönchengladbach and Roda JC, make him an appealing target for teams seeking a player with tactical intelligence and leadership credentials.

Grasshoppers, aware of growing outside interest, are working behind the scenes in an attempt to persuade Ndenge to stay. His role as vice-captain, along with his consistent performances throughout the current campaign, have made him a central figure in the team’s plans.

However, the midfielder’s silence on a new deal suggests his mind may already be drifting toward a new chapter.

Having featured regularly in the Swiss Super League, Ndenge has earned praise for his composure on the ball, physical presence, and ability to dictate tempo from midfield.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, and as the summer window approaches, his name continues to circulate among clubs looking to strengthen in that area of the pitch.

With time running out before his contract expires, the coming weeks are likely to be crucial in determining Ndenge’s future. Grasshoppers remain hopeful of a breakthrough, but with clubs from two major European leagues circling, they may soon have to accept the departure of one of their most important players.

As negotiations unfold, Ndenge stands at a crossroads — weighing loyalty to a club where he has thrived against the lure of a return to his roots or the opportunity to test himself in a new league. Either way, his next move looks set to be one of the more talked-about transfers of the summer.
