Antoine Bernede has left Swiss club FC Lausanne-Sport to join Serie A side Hellas Verona on loan until the end of the season.
The deal includes an option for the Italian club to make the move permanent.
The Cameroonian midfielder’s performances in Switzerland caught the attention of Verona, who sought to strengthen their midfield before the close of the winter transfer window.
Lausanne-Sport’s sporting director, Stéphane Henchoz, described Bernede’s departure as a testament to his development at the club.
“Antoine arrived at LS to relaunch his career. He was able to progress and attract the attention of big clubs.
Today, he joins Serie A with all the keys in hand to take a new step,” said Henchoz.
Bernede Ready for the Challenge
The 24-year-old expressed both gratitude to Lausanne-Sport and excitement for the opportunity in Italy.
“Joining Hellas Verona and Serie A is a challenge that I am looking forward to taking on.
It is not an easy decision, because I had two great years in Lausanne, but I am ready for this new adventure,” Bernede said.
A product of Paris Saint-Germain’s youth academy, Bernede made his professional debut in Ligue 1 before moving to RB Salzburg in 2019.
He featured in 68 matches for the Austrian side before securing a loan switch to Lausanne-Sport in 2023.
Rapid Rise in Switzerland
Bernede made an immediate impact at Lausanne-Sport, playing a crucial role in their promotion to the Swiss Super League.
In the top flight, he further cemented his reputation as one of the league’s standout midfielders.
Over 75 appearances for the club, he registered five goals and six assists while earning praise for his consistency and midfield presence.
Now, as he embarks on his new challenge in Italy, Bernede will look to make an impression in Serie A and convince Hellas Verona to trigger the option for a permanent transfer.
