Cameroonian forward Rodrigue Dipanda undergoes surgery after ACL injury
The 2025–2026 season has ended in disappointment for Cameroonian forward Rodrigue Dipanda after the player confirmed he has undergone surgery following a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
The striker, who plays for Deportivo La Coruña, revealed the setback through a heartfelt message shared on social media, admitting that the diagnosis came as a major shock after several medical tests confirmed the severity of the knee injury.
“After several tests, I was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and I need to have surgery. This isn’t what I was expecting, but I’m keeping my spirits up and I’ll do everything I can to come back stronger. I know it will be a long road, but I’m ready to take on this challenge with determination and patience,” Dipanda wrote.
The injury marks a significant blow for the young forward, who had been enjoying a promising campaign with Deportivo La Coruña’s reserve side. Before the setback, Dipanda had scored eight goals this season, steadily building a reputation as one of the emerging attacking prospects within the club’s development system.
ACL injuries are among the most serious in football, often requiring months of rehabilitation and careful recovery before a player can return to full competitive action. As a result, Dipanda is expected to begin an extensive rehabilitation programme immediately, with his recovery likely to stretch well into the next season depending on progress.
For Deportivo La Coruña, the absence of the Cameroonian striker removes an important attacking option from their developmental ranks, as the club continues to balance competitive ambitions with nurturing young talent.
Despite the setback, Dipanda’s message reflects determination and resilience, with the striker already focused on returning stronger once his rehabilitation process is complete.
