Cameroonian striker Jacques Fokam has officially signed with FK Dukla Prague, making a notable step up from Czech third-tier side FC Slovan Velvary. The 23-year-old’s arrival was confirmed on the club’s official website, as Dukla Prague continues its preparations for the upcoming season.
Fokam, who impressed with his performances in the Czech Football League (CFL) last season, joins Dukla after registering seven goals and four assists in just 11 appearances for Velvary.
His dynamic attacking presence and consistent goal-scoring form played a key role in attracting interest from the historically significant Prague-based club.
Speaking following the announcement of his transfer, Fokam expressed pride and optimism about the new chapter in his career.
“Signing a contract with Dukla is a significant milestone in my career, and I am extremely proud to be part of a club with such a rich history.
It is a huge challenge for me, and I am fully committed to the team’s success. Wearing the Dukla jersey is an honor, and I look forward to giving my best in every match,” he told the club’s media.
The move represents a considerable step forward for the young Cameroonian, who has rapidly climbed the Czech football ladder.
In his interview, Fokam provided insight into how the transfer materialised, revealing that initial contact came in the final stages of the 2024/25 campaign.
“I learned of Dukla’s interest a few weeks before the end of last season. My agent told me that the club was watching me and appreciated my game.
After several discussions with the management, particularly with sporting director Martin Hašek, I understood that Dukla was the right choice, a place where I could continue to progress and be part of something meaningful,” he explained.
The club, once a giant in Czechoslovak football and now aiming for a return to top-flight competition, views Fokam as a promising addition to its attacking ranks.
Known for his physical presence, sharp movement in the final third, and eye for goal, Fokam will be expected to bring a new dimension to Dukla’s forward line.
With pre-season training underway, Fokam is already settling into his new surroundings. His integration into the squad will be closely monitored by manager Petr Rada, who is believed to be planning a tactical reshuffle that plays to the young striker’s strengths.
FK Dukla Prague, who have been rebuilding with an eye toward long-term competitiveness, are hopeful that the acquisition of Fokam will pay dividends both in terms of goals and squad depth.
The club’s supporters, eager for a return to the glory days, will look to the Cameroonian as a potential catalyst for a strong 2025/26 campaign.
Fokam’s move is not just a personal achievement—it also marks a symbolic moment for the growing number of African talents making their mark in European leagues outside the traditional powerhouses. For Jacques Fokam, it’s the beginning of a new challenge, and all eyes will be on how he seizes it.
