Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, now shining with the New York Red Bulls, has sparked intrigue about a potential MLS move for Bayern Munich’s Thomas Müller.
Müller’s contract with Bayern lasts until summer 2025, yet his next step remains uncertain. Talks are ongoing, and the veteran midfielder might tack on another year in Munich.
Whispers of Müller crossing the Atlantic have grown louder lately. Choupo-Moting, who swapped Bayern for the MLS, recently chatted with kicker about his former teammate. “He is welcome here,” he said, tossing out the invite with a grin.
“Thomas, you can already speak English, so … joke, I have no idea. Thomas is a Bayern legend, so I would be happy for him if he continues there. But whether he wants to take this step.”
Choupo-Moting’s own MLS journey kicked off on December 18, 2024, when he signed with the Red Bulls as a free agent. By March 15, 2025, he’d already notched his first goal a cool penalty in a 2-2 draw against Orlando City SC.
