Cameroonian forward Didier Lamkel Zé faces an uncertain future at Sint-Truiden after being left out of the squad during a critical phase of the Belgian First Division play-offs.
The striker was excluded from the team’s training camp in the Netherlands, a crucial period in their season preparations, raising concerns over his fitness and standing within the squad.
On Saturday, Sint-Truiden secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Beerschot in his absence, further fueling speculation that his time at the club may be nearing its end.
Lamkel Zé, who joined the team in January, may not feature again before his contract expires in June.
His strained relationship with head coach Felice Mazzù appears to be a key factor in his uncertain status. The coach openly acknowledged that their partnership has not worked as intended.
“Didier brought quality to the club. We knew he was special, that he interpreted things his way, and unfortunately, the situation escalated. A failure? When an objective with a group or a player is not achieved, yes, we can talk about failure,” Mazzù admitted.
With tensions between the two showing no signs of easing, Lamkel Zé has now been made available for transfer.
As the summer window approaches, the forward is expected to seek a fresh start away from Sint-Truiden.
