Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing of Cameroonian international Bryan Mbeumo, with negotiations entering their final phase and a medical reportedly scheduled for the coming week.

After six impressive seasons at Brentford, Mbeumo appears set to take the next step in his career. His most recent campaign was his finest yet, recording 20 goals and 9 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

This standout form has drawn serious interest from United, who have made the 25-year-old winger one of their top summer transfer priorities.

United’s pursuit of Mbeumo has gathered pace in recent days, with the club submitting an offer worth over £60 million, believed to include performance-related bonuses and a structured payment plan.

Brentford, aware that Mbeumo’s contract runs for just one more year, are now seriously considering the bid. Should the deal go through, it would represent a record sale for the London club, surpassing the previous high set by Ivan Toney’s move to Saudi Arabia.

Mbeumo is expected to undergo a medical next week. He would join fellow Cameroon international André Onana at Old Trafford, assuming the goalkeeper remains at the club amid interest from abroad.

The move would also see Mbeumo link up with new United manager Ruben Amorim, who is eager to reshape the squad following a transitional season.

Mbeumo began his professional career at Troyes before moving to Brentford in 2019. His development since arriving in England has been steady and impressive. Initially used as a wide player, he evolved into a versatile attacking option, capable of operating across the front line or in a central role.

His blend of pace, strength, and finishing ability has made him one of the most effective forwards in the Premier League in recent years.

On the international stage, Mbeumo has represented Cameroon 22 times, scoring six goals. His rise with the national team has mirrored his club progress, becoming a reliable figure in a competitive squad.

At Manchester United, he is expected to play a central role in Amorim’s tactical plans. With United seeking to rebuild their attack, Mbeumo’s signing would be a major step forward.

The club struggled to consistently find the back of the net last season, and his goal threat and creativity are seen as key assets in addressing that weakness.

Mbeumo’s arrival would also provide United with additional width and directness, qualities Amorim values highly in his system. His work rate and tactical discipline make him a fit for the high-pressing, possession-based approach the Portuguese coach is keen to implement.

Should personal terms be finalised and the medical proceed as planned, Mbeumo is expected to sign a long-term contract, with a view to becoming one of the team’s attacking linchpins.

His move to Old Trafford marks not only a personal leap in his career but also signals United’s intent to return to the Premier League’s elite by investing in proven talent at the peak of their powers.

The club remains hopeful that the transfer can be concluded swiftly, allowing Mbeumo to join his new teammates ahead of pre-season training. With the deal progressing smoothly, official confirmation could arrive in the coming days.
