Cameroonian defender Thierry Etoungou signs two-year contract extension with Radnički Niš

Cameroonian defender Thierry Etoungou signs two-year contract extension with Radnički Niš

Cameroon international Thierry Etoungou has officially extended his stay with Serbian SuperLiga side Radnički Niš, agreeing to a new contract that will keep him at the club for an additional two seasons.

The 25-year-old defender, who joined the Serbian top-flight outfit in 2022, has committed his future to the Niš-based club despite a challenging spell marked by recurring injuries.

The new agreement is seen as a vote of confidence from the club’s management, who remain convinced of Etoungou’s value and potential on the pitch.

Since arriving from Cameroonian side AS Fortuna, Etoungou has gradually cemented his place within the team’s defensive setup.

Known for his versatility, tactical discipline, and consistent work ethic, he has earned the trust of both the coaching staff and the club’s hierarchy.

His leadership qualities and professionalism have been repeatedly praised by those within the Radnički Niš camp.

Over the course of the current season, Etoungou has made 16 appearances, showing clear signs of growth and improved performance. Though injuries have at times hindered his availability, his resilience and dedication to recovery have not gone unnoticed.

The decision to extend his contract is seen as a reflection of his determination and the belief that he can remain a key component of the club’s future plans.

Etoungou, who hails from Yaoundé, has been part of the Cameroon national setup and is considered among the promising defenders emerging from the Central African nation.

His market value currently stands at €100,000, according to Transfermarkt, but Radnički Niš view him as a far more valuable presence within their squad, both in terms of his on-field contributions and his off-pitch influence.

The club’s leadership expressed satisfaction with the agreement, noting that the extension reinforces the squad’s stability and ensures continuity in their defensive line.

“Thierry has shown immense character and commitment since day one,” a club spokesperson commented. “Despite facing physical setbacks, his performances have been commendable. He remains an important part of our team.”

Etoungou’s extension comes at a pivotal time for Radnički Niš, who are aiming to strengthen their roster and maintain competitiveness in Serbia’s top division.

The coaching staff are expected to continue relying on his experience, particularly as they seek to develop a balanced squad capable of contending for higher league positions in the upcoming campaigns.

With his future now settled for the foreseeable future, Etoungou will focus on building fitness and form ahead of the new season.

Both the club and its supporters will hope that the renewed commitment marks the beginning of a more stable and impactful phase in his career.

This latest development confirms Radnički Niš’s intent to build around a core of dependable professionals, and for Thierry Etoungou, it represents an opportunity to solidify his standing as one of the club’s most reliable defenders.
