Cameroonian defender Michael Ngadeu at centre of transfer tug-of-war

Cameroonian defender Michael Ngadeu at centre of transfer tug-of-war

Beijing Guoan are facing mounting pressure to retain Michael Ngadeu, with clubs from both Saudi Arabia and Belgium pursuing the Cameroonian international ahead of the summer transfer window.

Ngadeu, renowned for his composure and defensive authority, is nearing the end of his current contract with the Chinese Super League side.

As one of the most experienced figures in Beijing Guoan’s backline, the 33-year-old has attracted the attention of rival clubs looking to strengthen their defensive units ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The management at Beijing Guoan, currently fifth in the Chinese Super League standings, have already opened talks with Ngadeu in a bid to secure his services beyond the end of the season.

The club remains eager to keep hold of the former Slavia Prague and Gent defender and is actively working on a contract extension.

However, sources from Africasoccer indicate that Ngadeu and his representatives have not yet made a final decision.

The player’s camp is reportedly evaluating all available options, leaving Beijing Guoan in a state of uncertainty as rival clubs circle.

One of the leading contenders is Saudi Pro League outfit Khaleej FC. Currently occupying 10th place in the table, Khaleej has initiated discussions with Ngadeu’s entourage.

The club sees the Cameroonian as an ideal candidate to bring experience and defensive solidity to their backline. Negotiations between both parties are said to be advancing, with the Saudi club hoping to complete a deal before the summer transfer window closes.

Meanwhile, Belgian side Cercle Bruges have also entered the fray. As they continue to push for stronger league performances and prepare their squad for next season, the club is targeting players with high-level experience.

Cercle’s management has reportedly made contact with Ngadeu’s representatives to explore the possibility of a permanent transfer.

With the player’s contract set to expire in June, the Belgian club views this as a rare opportunity to acquire a seasoned centre-back on a free transfer.

Ngadeu, born in Maroua, Cameroon, has made seven appearances this season for Beijing Guoan, including four starts.

Despite limited game time, his market value remains steady at €600,000, according to Transfermarkt.

His leadership qualities, aerial strength, and tactical awareness have long made him a sought-after figure in defensive roles.

As the end of the season approaches, a decision on his future is expected soon. While Beijing Guoan remain hopeful of tying him down to fresh terms, the interest from Khaleej and Cercle Bruges signals a competitive battle that could see the Cameroonian return to a more prominent European or Middle Eastern league.

For now, all eyes remain on the player and his entourage as negotiations continue behind the scenes. The coming weeks are likely to prove decisive for Michael Ngadeu’s next move as he weighs the best destination to continue his professional journey.
