Former Cameroon international Alexander Song has expressed his displeasure following the sides’ stalemate against Eswatini in the 2026 World Cup qualifier.
The Indomitable Lions were held to a pulsating goalless in the fifth round of the qualifying series in Group D on Wednesday afternoon.
While Cameroon went into the fixture on top of the Group standings, Eswatini went into the game bottom of the log and with no points after losing all four matches previously played.
Despite dominating the game today, Cameroon failed to find the net as the game ended 0-0
Speaking after the game, the former Arsenal and Barcelona star affirmed his outfit were not up to the task but hopes the team turn things around against Libya on Tuesday for the sixth round game.
“We weren’t up to the task. Nothing worked. We hope that on Tuesday they’ll show a different side and be able to beat Libya because we’re playing at home.” He said.
Despite the draw, Cameroon remains at the summit of Group D in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup but only temporarily.
A win for either Libya or Cape Verde in their upcoming Round 5 matches will see either of them overtaking Cameroon at the top of the table.
