Cameroon star Frank Zambo Anguissa set to miss AFCON 2025 due to injury

Cameroon international midfielder Frank Zambo Anguissa is expected to miss the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament following an injury setback.

The 29-year-old, who plies his trade for Italian giants, Napoli has sustained a high-grade tear in the biceps femoris of his left thigh after undergoing test at Pineta Grande Hospital on Thursday.

Anguissa, who has already begun his rehabilitation program is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, casting doubts about his availability for the impending AFCON tournament, to be staged in Morocco between December 2025 and January 2026.

The injury setback comes not as a huge blow for Cameroon only, but also for Napoli, who are seeking to make a meaningful impact in the ongoing campaign.

Cameroon have been paired in Group F against Gabon, Ivory Coast and Mozambique at the upcoming AFCON tournament.

The indomitable Lions will open their AFCON account against Gabon on December 24, 2025 in the North African country. His potential absence will cost Cameroon, who are seeking to annex the title in Morocco.

Anguissa has already been ruled out of the high-stake 2026 World Cup playoff encounter between Cameroon and DR Congo. His absence is expected to affect the Indomitable Lions, who are aiming to secure qualification to the final World Cup playoff next year.

The midfielder, who has established himself as a key member of the Napoli team has made 15 appearances this season, scoring four goals and delivering an assist.
