Cameroon midfielder Zambo Anguissa’s injury return delayed
Cameroon international Napoli midfielder Franck Zambo Anguissa could not mark his return from injury for Napoli at the weekend as predicted earlier.
The highly-rated midfielder, who has been sidelined since November 2025 with persistent back pain, was expected to rejoin Napoli for their Serie A game Hellas Verona.
Anguissa had resumed training with the squad and was making good progress in his recovery.
But manager Antonio Conte opted to rest the midfielder as a precaution, confirming that he has not yet fully recovered. The decision reflects Conte’s careful approach, prioritising long-term fitness over a rushed return.
Anguissa’s absence means Napoli will once again be without one of their key midfielders, forcing the team to adjust their setup at the Marcantonio-Bentegodi Stadium in Verona. The club will continue monitoring his condition with the hope that he can gradually reintegrate into competitive action in the coming weeks.
His return remains highly anticipated, both for Napoli’s domestic campaign and for his own ambitions to regain full match fitness after several months out.
