FIFA has demanded that elections for the leadership of Fecafoot (Cameroonian Football Federation) be held before June 6, according to Junior Binyam, Fecafoot’s Director of Communications. The elections were initially canceled on May 24 due to security concerns following violence linked to the invalidation of the candidacy of outgoing president Iya Mohamed. No specific date has been set for the elections yet. FIFA’s letter also reportedly mentioned the requirement for the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon (CNOSF) not to interfere in the election process. Iya Mohamed is suspended from all public administration duties in Cameroon due to an embezzlement case.
