At a post-match press conference on Sunday in Yaoundé, the captain of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Samuel Eto’o, expressed his frustration, highlighting the team’s inadequate preparation.
“Mentally, we had a difficult week before the match. We knew we had to score twice without conceding to have any hope of going to penalties. Unfortunately, we conceded a goal. We didn’t need to work under pressure, but that’s what happened this whole week. In these conditions, it’s complicated.”
Eto’o emphasized the need for immediate action, stating, “We now have time to prepare for qualification for the 2014 World Cup. We have to start today. We must take advantage of all FIFA dates to play friendly matches. We need to talk because this team needs to live together.”
Cameroon, after a 2-1 victory but a 0-2 defeat in the first leg, will miss the CAN for the second consecutive time, having been eliminated by Cape Verde.
