Cameroon Elite One: Coton Sport Clinch Title With Two Matches to Spare
Coton Sport de Garoua has once again asserted its dominance in Cameroonian football. With two rounds still to play in the Elite One championship, the northern giants have already secured the league title, following a 1–1 draw with Yong Sport on Matchday 36. With 69 points, they maintain an unassailable six-point lead over their closest rivals Cosmos de Bafia.
This success puts Coton Sport on course for a domestic double, as they are also finalists in the 50th edition of the Cameroon Cup. The team, which once included Togolese international Djene Djakonam, is set to end the season on a high.
Struggles at the Bottom
At the other end of the table, the campaign has been grim for Sable de Batié and Douala AC, both of whom have now been officially relegated. Sable suffered a heavy 1–4 loss to TKC, sealing their fate, while Douala AC sits at the bottom of the standings with just 19 points.
