Camavinga’s Real Madrid position comes under scrutiny after Fiorentina display

Eduardo Camavinga’s future at Real Madrid has come under renewed scrutiny after the France international produced a disappointing performance in a friendly against Fiorentina.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho handed Camavinga a starting place in the match to assess whether the midfielder could still make a significant contribution to his plans. However, the player failed to provide the response his manager was looking for and delivered one of his weakest performances since joining the club.

According to a report by Sport, Camavinga was repeatedly guilty of lapses in concentration and misplaced passing during the game. He also made a series of technical errors that appeared inconsistent with the ability he has shown and the potential he possesses.

The display has added to growing uncertainty over the midfielder’s position at Real Madrid. Camavinga has all the qualities required to succeed at the club, but he has increasingly attracted attention for recurring mistakes and moments of poor focus rather than for his best football.

Clips showing his errors have also circulated on social media, increasing criticism of his performances and placing further pressure on the Frenchman.

Camavinga was previously regarded as one of the players whose position at Real Madrid was secure. The club’s hierarchy is now reportedly prepared to listen to offers for him without hesitation, although the player himself remains unwilling to consider a departure.

Camavinga has informed the club that he wants to stay and fight to regain his place in the team. His intention is to remain at Real Madrid and work his way back into favour, despite the uncertainty surrounding his status.

His form has declined significantly and he has been unable to establish himself as a regular member of the starting line-up. Rather than continuing to develop, his progress appears to have stalled, with his performances suggesting that he has taken a step backwards.

The midfielder’s displays have also become increasingly inconsistent. He has relied heavily on individual flashes of quality, while his reliability during matches has diminished.

Errors in positioning and concentration have become a recurring feature of his performances, and losing possession has begun to look like a regular problem. His decision-making has repeatedly raised questions, while elements of his technical game that once attracted praise have instead become targets for criticism.

The Fiorentina friendly therefore represented an important opportunity for Camavinga to demonstrate that he could still be trusted by Mourinho. Instead, his performance added to the doubts about his current level and his role at Real Madrid.

Although the player remains determined to stay and recover his place, the club’s willingness to consider offers means his position is no longer as secure as it once was. For Camavinga, the challenge is now to reverse the decline in his form and convince Real Madrid that his future should remain at the club.
