Caleb Ekuban transfer: Hellas Verona weigh move for Ghanaian-Italian striker

Ghanaian-Italian forward Caleb Ekuban, currently without a club after leaving Genoa, has been linked with a move to Hellas Verona in Serie B.

The 32-year-old centre-forward became unattached on 1 July 2026 following the end of his time at Genoa, where he had played since joining from Trabzonspor in August 2021. Hellas Verona are now reported to be interested in taking him back to Italy, although no agreement has been confirmed.

Ekuban has made 108 Serie A appearances during his career, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists. He has also played in Turkey, England and Albania, with his most productive top-level spell coming in the Turkish Super Lig, where he scored 20 goals in 83 appearances.

The forward won the Turkish Cup with Trabzonspor in 2020 and added the Turkish Super Cup the following year. He was also named Player of the Tournament in the 2020-21 campaign.

Ekuban began his senior career in Italy with Chievo Verona and spent time on loan at Sudtirol, Lumezzane and Renate before moving to Leeds in 2017. He later joined Trabzonspor permanently after a loan spell, before returning to Italy with Genoa.

Hellas Verona’s interest comes as Ekuban remains without a club, with the proposed move potentially offering him a return to Italian football through a Serie B side.
