CAF Women’s CLQ: Ampem Darkoa coach Charles Anokye promises different mentality in Edo Queens final

Head coach Charles Anokye insists Ampem Darkoa Ladies will approach their WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers final against Edo Queens with a different mentality after meeting the Nigerian side in the group stage.

The Ghanaian champions booked their place in Saturday’s final after a convincing 4-1 victory over Benin’s Dynamique FC in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

Milot Pokuaa scored twice, while Rebecca Assemani and Gloria Adomako were also on target as Ampem Darkoa produced a dominant display to reach the final for the second time.

However, Anokye expects a different challenge when his side face Edo Queens, having already beaten them 2-1 in their final Group B fixture after coming from behind.

The Ampem Darkoa coach says his technical team will study their previous encounter carefully to identify areas that need improvement before the decisive rematch.

“Well, I asked my analyst to break down our game against Edo Queens for us and feed me with where we fell short, where we did very well, where they fell short, and where we can also use to, you know, at least work on it,” Anokye said.

“So, I’ll be waiting for that data to analyse it and see how I can set up the team against Edo Queens. And then, moving to the final, we see it as a different game.”

Anokye is determined to ensure Ampem Darkoa avoid defeat and finish the competition with the trophy.

“So, we are going out to at least make sure that we don’t lose it,” he added.
