Issa Hayatou, the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), undertook a visit to Juba, Sudan, from September 24 to 26. Accompanied by his 2nd vice-president Almany Kabele Camara and secretary-general Hicham El Amrani, the Cameroonian official aimed to assess South Sudanese football and determine priorities to support the youngest country affiliated with CAF. During the visit, the delegation met with South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit and government officials. Additionally, they attended a football match, engaged with football authorities, and participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the future headquarters of the South Sudanese football federation. South Sudan became a CAF member on February 10, 2012, and received FIFA recognition as a member federation shortly after.
