Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe has stated that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah deserves to win the Ballon d’Or, highlighting his exceptional performances throughout the season.
Salah’s Standout Campaign
The Egyptian forward has been a pivotal figure for Liverpool, delivering 32 goals and 22 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.
His contributions have placed the Reds in a commanding position at the top of the Premier League, holding a 15-point advantage over Arsenal, who still have a game in hand.
Salah also has the chance to add silverware to his season when Liverpool take on Newcastle United in the EFL Cup final on Sunday, further strengthening his case for individual accolades.
Ballon d’Or Debate
Despite Salah’s remarkable season, Liverpool’s exit from the Champions League in the last 16 against Paris Saint-Germain on penalties could be a setback in his Ballon d’Or ambitions.
However, Motsepe remains firm in his belief that Salah is a worthy winner.
“Salah 100% deserves the Ballon d’Or. He makes us proud and is an exceptional player.
Nothing would make us happier than seeing one of our own, Mohamed Salah, win the Ballon d’Or,” Motsepe told On Time Sports.
A Record-Breaking Journey
Salah recently matched Sergio Agüero’s record as the Premier League’s all-time leading foreign goalscorer, with 184 goals.
His consistency and influence continue to place him among the world’s elite footballers, reinforcing Motsepe’s call for him to be recognized with football’s most prestigious individual award.
