The announcement, made on Wednesday, marks a historic milestone for Morocco, which had previously made five unsuccessful bids to host the tournament.
The North African nation’s inclusion alongside its European counterparts underscores its growing prominence in global football.
Motsepe lauded Morocco’s achievement and highlighted the exemplary leadership of Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), in elevating the nation’s football profile.
“I am particularly proud of the decisive role and exemplary leadership of our brother, Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
I would also like to express my thanks to the 54 member associations of CAF for their solidarity and unwavering support for Morocco’s candidacy,” Motsepe said.
The CAF president also emphasized the symbolic significance of the joint hosting arrangement.
“The alliance between Morocco, Portugal, and Spain constitutes a symbolic bridge between Africa and Europe through football, and it inspires all players in the world of football to work together to make the world a better place,” he added.
This decision not only represents a victory for Morocco but also reflects Africa’s growing influence in the global football community.
By sharing hosting duties with Spain and Portugal, Morocco will participate in a groundbreaking collaboration that unites two continents, symbolizing football’s potential to foster unity and cooperation on a global scale.
