The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant increase in prize money for the CAF Confederation Cup, including a major boost for the runners-up, just a day before the 2025-2026 final gets underway.

In an official statement, CAF confirmed that the winner of this season’s competition will now receive 4 million US dollars, marking a 100% rise compared to last season’s 2 million dollars.

The figure also represents a 220% increase from the 1.25 million dollars awarded in 2021, shortly after Patrice Motsepe took over as CAF president and pledged to strengthen financial investment in African club football.

The runners-up will also benefit from the revised structure, with their prize money doubled to 2 million dollars from last season’s 1 million.

The announcement comes as Egyptian giants Zamalek prepare to face Algeria’s USM Alger in the first leg of the final on Saturday at the 5 July Stadium, with the return fixture scheduled for May 16 at Cairo Stadium.

Morocco’s RS Berkane, last season’s champions, are not defending their title in the competition this year after switching focus to the CAF Champions League, where they reached the semi-finals.
