The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has imposed a fine on Algerian club Chabab Belouizdad following incidents during their CAF Champions League match against South Africa’s Orlando Pirates on November 26, 2024.
In its recent session, the Disciplinary Board reviewed various cases from CAF interclub competitions and AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
Among them, Chabab Belouizdad was found guilty of violating CAF regulations due to the behavior of their supporters, who used smoke bombs during the game.
As a result, CAF has fined the club USD 10,000. However, half of this amount—USD 5,000—has been suspended on the condition that no similar incidents occur within the next 12 months.
CAF emphasized the importance of maintaining order and discipline during its competitions, reiterating that such actions by supporters are unacceptable and subject to strict penalties.
This decision highlights CAF’s commitment to ensuring a safe and controlled environment for players, officials, and fans across all its tournaments.
For Chabab Belouizdad, the penalty serves as both a punishment and a warning to prevent future misconduct from their fan base.
